Why Intensives?

Why Would I Choose an Intensive?

  • You feel stuck with talk therapy and want more significant movement. Perhaps you haven’t been to therapy for quite some time, but feel stuck in life and would like some change that feels profound vs. the slower pace of traditional talk therapy.

  • A shorter timeframe is appealing  due to your schedule and life circumstances that don’t allow you to commit to consistent weekly therapy.

Format of Intensives

  • Pre-intensive workbook Prior to your intake session, you will receive a customized workbook that will require up to three hours of your time to journal and complete several diagnostic screening tools in preparation for your intensive. The workbook will help us create the roadmap for your intensive by helping us get clear on the targets for your intensive, parts mapping and establish coping skills in advance. You will be asked to submit this prior to your intake session for Catherine to review and is intended to create a richer intake experience.

  • One or Two 50-minute sessions for pre-intensive intake these preparatory sessions finalize the roadmap of our work as well as establish a safe therapeutic relationship for intensive format.

  • 6 to 15 hours of EMDR therapy across two to five days (weekends available). Each person’s exact combination will vary based on your desire, schedule and clinical recommendation. Each intensive includes EMDR, parts work and if appropriate and clinically indicated, can include KAP.

  • One 50-minute integration session approximately two weeks after your last session, so we can reflect on your progress, assess for integration and plan for the next steps in your healing journey, if more support is needed.

Investment

$2400 - $5400

The exact cost depends on how many hours we do in your intensive. The lowest range reflects 6 hours of intensive time, the highest 15 hours and also cover one intake session and the final integration sessions

Due to the amount of calendar time dedicated to an intensive, a 50% deposit is required upon commitment.

Location

While intensives can be remote, they are primarily offered in person in San Francisco at Catherine’s office in the Mission District.

A retreat-style option is also available on the coast near San Francisco, in Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. The location is 30 minutes from San Francisco International Airport.

The retreat option is a fully customized experience where you will stay in a coastal community AirBNB or boutique hotel steps from the Pacific ocean. The intention of this is to fully immerse your nervous system in a setting in which it can fully relax. Due to the location, some of your therapy time can be spent outdoors — imagine what it might be like to do EMDR in one of the most beautiful places on Earth?

Some of the add-on experiences of a retreat can be a trauma-informed weight lifting session, bodywork and nourishing, organic meals prepared by local chefs.
