EMDR Therapy
What is EMDR?
EMDR is a structured therapy with a well established evidence base. It combines elements of traditional talk therapy with bilateral stimulation, which is essentially using stimulating sensory inputs (eye movements, tapping, etc.) on each side of your body in an alternating fashion. Imagine tapping the tops of your legs with each hand, back and forth. It can be simple, yet it can be quite a taxing emotional experience. The EMDR I provide is a depth-oriented approach which benefits from having a strong and warm therapeutic relationship. This means we will center your safety with pacing and grounding as our top priority. Additionally, I often integrate parts work into my EMDR sessions to better understand the complexity of your situation.
